Alternative Media

In multiple studies, the project investigates alternative news media that oppose mainstream journalism and provide divergent interpretations of current affairs.
     
Content analyses on framing and agenda-setting examine which topics alternative media report on, how they present them, and through which channels they disseminate their content. Conducting representative surveys and secondary analyses, we  investigate the awareness and reach of alternative media among German citizens. Further studies explore the public impact of alternative media, especially with regard to the spread of conspiracy theories.
